The track is the engrossing indie artist’s third release of 2024
On her bittersweet and engrossing new single ‘New Arrivals’, Liverpool based indie artist Pet Snake explores the all too familiar feeling of growing up and losing friends as they go through experiences like making families and drifting away through the business and differing priorities of life.
The track unfolds as a laid-back yet melancholy indie anthem that feels as captivating and resonating as anything that you’re likely to hear anytime soon, with the lyrics in particular striking a chord thanks to their raw and relatable edge. The vivid nature of the artist’s writing and the way that it melds so effortlessly with the soundscape makes for heartbreaking listening, and the sombre nature of “how about we stick together” is something that sticks with you for long after your listen and leaves an indelible mark on you as a listener.
“This one’s about a lot of different friends all at once starting families and disappearing into an all-encompassing new chapter.” Pet Snake says of the track. “The line “new arrivals stealing all our friends” had been ringing in my head for a while since I had this initial feeling of loss when I realised my friends with new babies suddenly felt quite far away. I watched a lot of live videos of Dolores O’Riordan whilst recording this one and I feel I was channelling her with the outro vocal ad libs.”
