On her potent and powerful new single ‘Dashboard Lights’, Peyton Shay continues to demonstrate her stirring appeal and the devastatingly powerful effect that her sound can have, as she delves into the wreckage of a failed relationship and articulates what went wrong in moving fashion.

This deep dive into a relationship that was doomed from the offset does a great job of articulating some of the issues and problems that we choose to wilfully ignore in the pursuit of love and being able to feel something, whether intentionally or not. The atmospheric and hushed nature of the sound adds a whole other dimension to its bittersweet feel, creating a smouldering, captivating ballad that feels tailor-made to sit with you and leave a lasting impact that lingers for well beyond your listen.

“I randomly wrote what would turn out to be the beginning of ‘Dashboard Lights’ in my room, alone, on my piano,” shares Shay. “I took the half-mumbled voice memo into the studio, and my producer and I quickly fell in love with expanding the idea of what this song could become. It’s a metaphorical drive through a relationship that was never meant to work. It’s like speeding through red lights and ignoring warning signs, only to realize too late that I was driving us straight into trouble.”
