Alessia Labate is both playful and self-reflective on new track ‘You’re My Next Ex’
Italian pop riser Alessia Labate is ready to drop her tantalizing new release ‘You’re My Next Ex’.
When you hear the title of the track you assume that the song is about a relationship but there’s a little more to this playful track than the surface level.
As Alessia explains to us in the exclusive quote below, the lyrics of the track are actually aimed at herself, it’s her own way of addressing those past toxic behaviours and moving forward with a fun and vibrant attitude.
Alessia shares, “You’re My Next Ex” has been sitting in my hard drive for over 2 years and a half and it went through at least 3 huge makeovers.
I changed every inch of it to finally get to the song it is now. It represents my growth as an artist and as a person.”
The ‘ex’ I’m talking about is actually my own toxic behaviours I’m starting to acknowledge and want to let go of. I just turned 24 and now more than ever I realise how my past has had an impact on the way I live my life. But why so serious?
Making a fun song about it is my way to exorcise that behaviour with the intention of doing better. ENJOY IT!
Music producer Harrison First also features on the track, the two are part of Soundcloud’s new project Repost Select will be releasing the song through them (Repost by Soundcloud).
