Claire Frances told us that, “I wrote this song to try to process and understand what someone very close to me had gone through. They had just come out of an emotionally abusive, long-term relationship and were experiencing that simultaneous sense of release and heartbreak.
Their relationship had seemed so fun and quirky from the outside, but in reality they were both trapped in something that they needed to escape. To me, the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland really symbolises that temporary loss of self and the knowledge that not everyone will make it out.”
Claire also added, “As part of this release, I will be speaking out about physical and emotional domestic abuse and donating a percentage of my royalties to a domestic abuse charity. I will be releasing more information on this in the coming weeks.”
