Nottingham quartet Cucamaras unveil post-punk foot-stomper Safe Bet
Raring to go with their latest offering ‘Safe Bet’, Cucamaras are a quartet with layers of star quality.
Receiving rave reviews from DIY, CLASH, Louder Than War and BBC 6 Music, Cucamaras are starting to get the recognition that they truly deserve.
For fans of Fontaines DC and Do Nothing and Shame, this fast-paced post-punk infused track details the implications of a failing social life whilst at university.
Songwriter Josh Hart shares, “Safe Bet is a really honest track that tells a story that almost everyone has either experienced themselves or have watched friends experience.
I was influenced by Jarvis Cocker when putting together the lyrics, I love the way he can create a narrative in his tracks, so it’s something I tried out with this one.
I remember penning the lyrics and not knowing what to put them to, they sat unused for about a year but then the main riff in the track as we hear it now came later on and it just fitted perfectly.
I think this track is what we tried to achieve with earlier tracks like Lime Street Liar but we didn’t put enough of our own DNA into the guitar and stuff in that track.
Whereas I think we know who we are and what we want to sound like now, and Safe Bet feels quintessentially Cucamaras to me.” –
A triumphant return that states this youthful outfit are certainly on the right path to stardom
