Daisy Coburn announces her stunning new single ‘Ultrasound’
Daisy Coburn unveils hypnotising new offering ‘Ultrasound‘ and it trades electro-pop for a more grassroots sound.
A subtle but powerful with sweeping strings, infectious harmonies and a laid backbeat, the track highlights gorgeous, airy vocals.
Sharing her thoughts on the release, Daisy states, “‘Ultrasound’ is a very matter of fact account of being witness to my sisters pregnancy, trying to imagine what it was like for her to be pregnant, almost romanticising it.
We went to the ultrasound together and a few nights after I put pen to paper to document this very real, but beautiful element of life, and our experience together in the hospital.
The song came about quickly and almost sporadically. I have every single one of my immediate family singing backing vocals on the recording, the temptation of making us all immortal in that moment was encouraged by the songs narrative of togetherness and oneness being the same thing.
‘Ultrasound’ fits the narrative of my upcoming EP by being of the era it belongs. The perspective of reflection and optimism seems to be the glue that sticks this material together, though, honestly I think ‘Ultrasound’ stands alone.
The way it came about and the way I’ve executed it with my family singing on it sets it apart from the other songs. My solo project feels more me because at this moment in time, it’s only me holding the strings.I needed to have full creative control, whatever the outcome, not to be precious or to feel the need to deliver any expectation.
That in itself creates a safe space to create, unapologetically and uncompromisingly authentic material, even if it evolves and changes, which inevitably it always does.”
