Dempsey Bolton returns with his first release since debut album ‘Monochrome’, the contemporary R&B number ‘Savour’
Dempsey Bolton unleashes infectious new single ‘Savour’ into the heavens. A track fitted for the silver screen, the engaging number issues a warrant… a warrant to listen and take it all in.
Dempsey mentioned, “I got the idea for Savour driving home from the grocery store of all places. The bass line popped into my head and I immediately went up to my studio and tracked it. The 1st verse fell out of me along with most of the production. Lyrically I always write off of what feeling I get from the music and the track really gave me night vibes.
I had this vision of a car parked up on a cliff with the roof up, overlooking the entire city. “Makeout point” vibes. I’ve always been fascinated by the feeling of the very start of a new relationship and how the night leading up to that first interaction feels so organic and exciting. There’s a real sense that anything could happen, that the night could go anywhere.
So I wrote the lyric based on that feeling; the “going on a drive with that person I’ve been crushing on and tonight could be the night” type vibes. I think that spontaneity is really present in the production, there aren’t very many static moments; new elements are always arising throughout the song, supporting that sentiment”.
A smooth soundscape filled with a sleazy arrangement, ‘Savour’ features a slow-burn groove ready for you to move. Taking listeners through a dark journey of unpredictability, the engaging experience captures the spontaneity of lust and romance through a vibrant lens.
An iconic release from Dempsey Bolton, it’s got the same sort of aura as some of the early tracks from The Weekend.
