Amsterdam based Elif Dame makes her debut with Contemporary R&B meets Hip-Hop wonder ‘Full Rounded’
Elif Dame, meaning she who brings light, not only has an amazing name but marks her debut with the sensational ‘Full Rounded’. Inspired by artists such as Madlib, MF DOOM and J Dilla to name a few, Elif began writing form a young age.
Beginning her journey by writing her own songs to electronic sample hip hop, the songwriter experimented with different music styles to create her true identity. Touching on topics such as depression, difficult family dynamics and her journey of introspection, this artist is honest with her audience. Full Rounded’ blends underground hip-hop grooves with a fresh soulful face, and needs your full attention.
We chatted with Elif on the release, and she stated, “None of us are in control of reality which is scary. I think for me it resulted in trying extremely hard to control everything: myself, my urges, my habits, my work and my relationships. I wrote this song in Germany and at the time I’d never felt a stronger connection between what I was writing and what I was going through in that moment.
As I forgot to eat trying to finish the demo, I vowed to try and do differently from that point on. ‘Full Rounded’ is about me realizing that quitting certain addictive and destructive patterns did not, on its own, defeat the forces within me that were driving them”.
Armed with emotive lyrics, the killer beats in the mix groove into tomorrow. Striving to be more full rounded, the single dives into a realm of improvement while being reassured that you must always stay true to yourself.
