Having built up a tremendous head of steam, aided in particular by the release of four stellar singles last year, Glass Peaks look to carry that momentum into 2020 with the release of their latest offering ‘Never Really Left’.

The track does a great job of capturing the essence of Glass Peaks and showcasing what makes them such a unique and tantalising prospect in the UK indie scene right now. From the overt, sarcastic wit to its innately catchy sensibilities, to its underlying, heavy cutting edge, there are layers and facets to Glass Peaks and their sound which separate them from the pact.

“Someone once said to me ‘nobody really cares if you don’t go to the party’ and it’s so, so true.” Vocalist and bassist.Alfie Jefferies has said of the track. “The same applies for this online world we live in. Nobody really cares that I went on a 5K run, or bought a pair of new shoes, or that I don’t believe in a God, or that I’m interested in politics. There’s a huge, delusional, false pretence that exists on the internet. ‘Never Really Left’ is written about how I can now look at that with different eyes. It’s a sarcastic song, I feel even in the vocal delivery you can tell that.”

The track comes as the first glimpse of the trio’s upcoming debut EP, and is a glowing advertisement for the body of work. If you were a fan of their earlier work, this looks to be a laser focused approach at extracting the best of their sound and marrying it with sharp, thoughtful songwriting. Stellar stuff.
