Harry Marshall unveils smooth new offering ‘Not Yet’
Blending inspiration from both the 80s and 90s, Harry Marshall is a force to be reckoned with in the alt-pop world, and ‘Not Yet’ states why.
Harry Marshall’s singer-songwriter sensibilities shine through with crashing drums and slow, heart-wrenching melodies that hit like waves on the shore.
Speaking about the iconic release, Harry Marshall shares, “Not Yet,’ is such a crazy accumulation of all of the to’s and fro’s of everyday life.
A lot of the EP was written before the pandemic and concerned my struggles with: a nasty break up whilst trying to progress in my music career, the existential dread of being a creative, the love I have for London and its opportunities, the anguish I feel for the classism and nepotism London upholds and the struggles of being vulnerable in new love.
The EP was recorded in South and South-East London by two amazing producers, Larry Hibbitt and Carey Willetts, who I both admire very much. It was then released sporadically between lockdowns so all of these songs became full-blown with new meaning to a different man.
It took on a new form in the hardest of times as a memento to all of the work that had gone into this record, when the idea of being a musician was so far from that current reality.
In the face of adversity and holding on by a thread, saying something as simple as ‘not yet’ can carry you through until better days. They always do come, and that’s what this record is to me. A lighthouse in the rain.”
Out everywhere now for you to enjoy, ‘Not Yet’ is poised with grace and personality.
