Indie-pop outfit Hongza unveil warm number ‘Accolades’
One of the only positives that’s come out of Lockdown, indie-pop outfit Hongza unleash brand-new single “Accolades” to raise some well-needed optimism.
Best described as a breath of fresh air, the alternative track nudges artists such as Pale Waves, Turnover and The Night Cafe. An effortless anthem that’s best experienced at a high volume, the honest songwriting within the track is breathtaking.
Talking about the release, Hongza told us, “Being in Lockdown is such a crazy experience, I had so much time that I was spending insane amounts of hours on my phone and making TikTok videos. I got caught in this mess where I thought my self-worth came from how many people commented on my videos & how many people followed me. Which is not true!
I guess this is a lockdown to take care of your mental health & this track is a digital wellbeing anthem for me.”
Led by singer-songwriter Sam Hong, who’s not only smashing the music world but also the PR and Journalism world, Hongza is an exciting project that looks to avenues of indie, pop and shoegaze for comfort.
“Accolades” describes the detailed struggles of lockdown living and how this horrendous new ‘normal’ is affecting us all in someway.
Buried within an arrangement of shimmering vocals, reverberated guitars and addictive lyricism, ‘Accolades’ lets you into its arms for a warm, soft and well-needed embrace.
