Singer songwriter Iz Divine debuts new single ‘W.Y.I.M’
In fall of 2021, newcomer Iz Divine created a single that captures the feelings of wanting
something that you can’t have and that you know you shouldn’t want.
The track, titled “W.Y.I.M.” (What’s Yours Is Mine), is the second single from the artist, expected to be released spring of 2022.
Her anticipated single is a sultry, vibey, and vocally symphonic track about unrequited love with someone that is already taken and the brief thoughts about getting in the way.
The mood of the track feels dreamy, sensual, chill, and “glittery”, similar to how the lyrics hint at desiring something that you can’t really have.
The feeling behind this single is as the title states- “what’s yours is mine”. However, all that glitters isn’t gold, which is exactly what is felt within the layers of this song.
Wishing you could get in the way of a relationship that you know is doomed and idealizing one that hasn’t even started; and probably never will.
There’s an air of fantasy and daydreaming about someone you know you can’t have. It feels alluring as it romanticizes a situation that is always going to be bad given any circumstance. True star crossed lovers of 21st century dating culture.
Iz shares, “We often wish for things that we know we shouldn’t. Entertaining the idea of being the other woman after having the same done to you is the ultimate sticky situation.
Sometimes you really can’t get what you want because you know how it feels on the other side.”
