Taken off Laveda’s upcoming debut album ‘What Happens After’, ‘Rager’ is fuzzy, loud and raw.
Clearly standing tall in it’s shows, Laveda’s ‘Rager’ stands out from the crowd with it’s fuzz-like arrangement. Facing the crowd with an overly dramatic theory about how the end of the world would sound, ‘Rager’ is a fierce mix of noise-rock and shoegaze. A strong mixture of My Bloody Valentine meets Wolf Alice, ‘Rager’ has a fresh face of originality, and features a cinematic production.
“When I first started writing music with Jake, neither of us imagined we would write a song like Rager. Up until that point in our writing it was pretty much exclusively acoustic, very delicate sounding stuff. Even if it was amplified, it wasn’t nearly as violent as Rager ended up. Once we had the idea somewhat fleshed out it was as if the song started telling us how it needed to be. Most, if not all, of the tracks on What Happens After actually seemed to work that way. I heard guitar bends and crazy loud noises before we even recorded anything.
Dylan Sky, the engineer we worked closest with while tracking the record, introduced me to a lot of stuff that Brian Eno worked on while we were figuring out Rager. I think we really started to feel creative after listening to Slowdive and some of his work with Coldplay. My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, and Arcade Fire were also were pretty big influences on this track. It’s probably a collective favorite between myself and the band to play live.” – Ali Genevich
What makes ‘Rager’ extra special is that it’s catered for everyone. There’s indie, rock, alternative, shoegaze and even pop in the mix. Highly experimental in a way due to it’s wide production, the breathtaking soundscape is Laveda at their best. Energetic and ready for your playlist, the track is released everywhere tomorrow.
