British-Chinese sensation LVRA’s ‘Wall’ is an electro-pop anthem that needs your full attention
Channeling a love for R&B, experimental electronica and trap music, LVRA’s production ability features a stunning amount of samples, traditional Chinese instruments and soulful vocals. Soothing the soul with her exceptional vocal tone, ‘Wall’ is her latest release.
Set to release her debut EP ‘LVCID’ June 12th, the EP was written while LVRA was visiting her family back home in China. Marking an intention to paint a positive image of China in the wake of COVID-19, this release feels relevant and a wonderful thing to showcase amidst the current climate.
LVRA stated, “Wall started off as a really short idea that I wrote at the end of my first year at university to let off some steam when I was not in a good mental space, before I had even thought about releasing my own music. I had kind of sacrificed my own happiness for someone else, and only once it was over did I gradually come to realise all the walls, emotionally and creatively, that I placed around our relationship in order to protect it.
That summer I went to China to get some space after a messy breakup. That trip made me feel so much wonder, and all the natural beauty inspired me to write this EP and finish Wall along with some other older ideas. I think whatever pain it was that I felt before I wanted to turn something hopeful.”
Passionate and featuring a personal experience within the track’s message, ‘Wall’ feels like an escape from a negative situation. Turning a negative into this warming, proud moment in her career to date, ‘Wall’ features explosive synth, and experimental beats mixed with an alt-pop arrangement. Illuminating her musical heritage, LVRA is sticking to her roots and illustrating she’s one to watch.
