Maddy Storm reveals glistening new track ‘Mattress’
Out tomorrow, Maddy Storm’s new single ‘Mattress’ is, ironically, a comfortable number that specialises in unapologetic pop.
Invading the mind and confidently bed themselves in the memory, the track is unafraid to launch into consecutive explosive hooks.
‘Mattress’ opens with a bellowing sub bass as Maddy cries “baby, you underestimate me,” the vocal juxtaposes the bravado; bathed in a cavernous reverb, before the chorus launches into a slick form of woozy hip-hop.
The song is thematically underpinned by a stark realisation, noted in the line, “I’m the practice for the one that you want.”
Speaking about the new release, Maddy tells us, “Mattress is the most intuitive track I’ve written and produced, it just came to me all at once.
I never over-thought any part of it for the first time in my life, and because the whole thing happened so quickly, I ended up recording the final vocal takes on holiday in an airbnb in Brighton – keep an ear out for any background noises in the recording – it was seagull season.”
“Mattress” is yours to enjoy from tomorrow, but you can hear it exclusively at the top of this page.
