DIY indie artist Marky Wildtype explores existential dread and the human condition on his engrossing latest single
On his latest new single ‘The Hole’, Edinburgh DIY singer-songwriter and producer Marky Wildtype continues to showcase his engrossing and fiercely independent sound, with the artist writing, arranging, performing, recording and mixing everything himself, at home on all of the work across his catalogue.
This unique and individualistic approach makes for a sound and style that feels entirely his own, providing his indie rock style with a sense of character and charm that gives it an unmistakable allure. ‘The Hole’ explores the human condition and the way that she frantically try to search for meaning and something to make everything feel worthwhile as we march towards an inevitable death. The gravity and stakes of the narrative pair with the artist’s moody indie rock sound in compelling fashion, making for a thought-provoking release that unfolds like a catchy existential crisis. The track is in part influenced by Sarah Polley’s 2011 film ‘Take This Waltz’, and does a great job of emulating some of the anxieties and existential themes that are presented and explored there.
