Rousing indie artist Nicole Saphos Band shines on her sentimental and stirring new release ‘Home For The Holidays’
The feeling of returning home for the holiday is something that evokes mixed and bittersweet feelings in a lot of people, and on her surf rock inspired bi-coastal bop ‘Home For The Holidays’, Nichole Saphos Band explores these emotions and expectations in truly rousing and engrossing fashion.
The track has a really confessional and personal appeal to it, applying these more universal experiences and feelings to more specific situations to herself in a way that feels authentic throughout while maintaining this resonating feel that comes from the emotions that it stirs. This more guitar-driven side to the artist’s unique sound really brings out some of the catharsis and rawness in the lyrics and themes, and adds to this all around grounded and personable approach. Both thoughtful and fast-paced, universal and specific, ‘Home For The Holidays’ is a great showcase of the nuance and charm of Nicole Saphos and her sound, and the unifying experiences that the holidays can cause.
“I wrote this song (my first ever on guitar!) last January during Adrianne Lenker’s “School of Song” course.” Nicole Saphos says of the new release. “I was really inspired by one of Adrianne’s approaches to songwriting which explores how the combination of descriptive and confessional lyrics can shift the meaning of each subsequent chorus.”
