Point Lobo is the musical and visual adventure of Miles Senazi, drummer of legendary hip-hop group The Pharcyde. Also known for being the composer of the hit podcast The End of the World with Josh Clark (of Stuff You Should Know), this captivating project sounds like Tame Impala met up for a beer with David Byrne.

Broken Parts” is the leading single from the forthcoming Tacoma Narrows EP, which will be released July 21st. Written about mental health struggles during a time of solitude, this experimental number is heavily influenced by indie-pop and mainstream corridors.

Vibrant, radiant and soulful in all the right places, ‘Broken Parts’ feels like the perfect soundtrack to an enchanting visual programme like Steven Universe. Bathed in lo-fi pop aesthetics and late-night vibes, Point Lobo’s new track will have you transported into a place of calmness.

Speaking about his new single, Point Lobo tells us, “I’ve always loved songs that have an inherent dichotomy built into them: happy songs about sad things, sad songs about happy things. When I as writing this song, I was listening to the classic ‘Cars’ by Gary Numan, which has a fun, catchy melody but with lyrics that speak of darker subject of social isolation.

In a similar manner, ‘Broken Parts’ started out as a bouncy, melodic bassline that I came up with. But the lyrics are written from a more personal perspective – in particular, the desperation I felt when I was seeking help for my own bouts of insomnia. I was literally begging my doctor for some sleeping pills, LOL.

I think we all have had moments struggling with our mental health, where we reach out for something to help us make it through to the next day, and I think as humans we’ve all had this experience in some form or another.”

Out worldwide tomorrow, “Broken Parts” picks itself up and dusts away any negative vibes. A comforting number that tells listeners it’s ok to not be ok, this is a strong helping hand for the globe.
