Priestgate produce a powerful dream-pop soundscape in latest anthem “Now”
Indie quintet Priestgate surround themselves in an experimental, shoegaze atmosphere in new single “Now”. Based in East Yorkshire, the past year has seen the band dive into songwriting, trial out different avenues and perform to appreciative crowds across the UK.
Hitting a concrete wall of reverb and angelic melodies, ‘Now’ is their latest wonder into the further realms of dream-pop
On the track, Priestgate mentioned “‘NOW’ is our ode to understanding life the way it really stands. As a band and group of friends, we all know we have made our fair share our mistakes. We also know that everyone listening has made their fair share too, and will continue to mess up inevitably along the way in their individual journeys, just as equally as we will too.
Our collective perception of the experiences in our youth have been distilled and refined into ‘NOW’. We have plucked soundscapes from RIDE, The Cure and Slowdive, curdling them together into a sonic tonic ready for fresh digestion and growth into our styles. The result is pulsing, rhythmic and breathing with young life.”
“Now” is present and glistening in shoegaze sensibilities with even gentle post-punk vibes too. While looking back to the past with a nostalgic mindset, the overall instrumentation of the track is refreshing and breathes anticipation for what’s to come next for the outfit.
