British-American electronic duo Ready, Steady Die! reveal glistening cover of a Soft Cell classic

Ready, Steady Die! explore the immersive sounds you can now delve into, and deliver a unique offering that will captivate many with ease.

Ready, Steady Die! explain why they chose to cover Soft Cell’s ‘Say Hello, Wave Goodbye’, “As 80s kids, both of us have an enduring love for the synth pop new wave movement that arrived at that time.

Marc Almond and David Ball, in their creation of Soft Cell, pioneered the scene with the arrival of their debut album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret and it’s a piece of work that parked up alongside our lives and has been there ever since.”

“Say Hello, Wave Goodbye has been covered by some great artists and we wanted to be a part of that gang to pay homage to one of Ready, Steady, Die!’s most powerful influencers. It is also unquestionably one of the most beautiful breakup ballads ever written.”

It’s a low-key, electronic version reflecting on the song’s original ballad style, but done so in such a charismatic way.

Sam K utilises her dark and enchanting vocals to set the scene, amongst the beautifully arranged synths that sit so nicely underneath.

They wanted to pay tribute to what is a song for the ages, and have so seamlessly blended together their style, whilst still paying homage to the 80s giants.

Having attained the approval from the great Marc Almond himself, there couldn’t be higher praise in what is a modern and enhanced electronic take on a pure classic, which has given the song a whole new lease of life and exploration.
