The two new remixes showcase an ethereal side to the artist’s recent single ‘Cherry Trees’
Following the release of her powerful pro-peace anthem ‘Cherry Trees’ from back in March, Kat Kikta has released two ethereal, ambient remixes of the track in the form of ‘Slow Trees’ and ‘Slow Trees (Vocal Deepener’) through Sophia Aya, a new project and dimension of artistic expression brought to life by Kat herself.
The track was initially written as a protest against the conflict in Ukraine, but now finds itself doubly as applicable due to the heightening tensions in Gaza that are gaining more prominence in the news. The ambient and tranquil feel of these remixes make for an atmospheric and profound listening experience that provides a sense of calm and reflection in contrast to the chaos that breeds elsewhere, with the rich textures and quiet spaces left in the track offering the listener a chance to interpret it in their own way and find their own meaning within the magic of the sound.
“These remixes of ‘Cherry Trees’ are an emotional affirmation of how we absolutely can find tranquillity and hope even in the face of despair,” says Kat Kikta. “My aim was to create spaces of quiet contemplation, allowing the anti-war sentiment to resonate on a deeper, more atmospheric level. I want it to transcend languages and be a primal resonance for peace that is felt in a more undeniable way, for everyone.”
