Synthwave duo Young Empress embark on a vibrant journey into the music industry with their debut ‘Peacemaker’
Young Empress are a synthwave duo consisting of Rebecca Davies and Robin Davies. This two-piece are set to sky-rocket into the Synth world with listeners eyes and ears directly on them. Beginning their journey with the high-spirited number ‘Peacemaker’, the single is coated with alt-pop sensibilities while nudging it’s sentimental sound of the past.
‘Peacemaker’ is an ode to the nostalgic period of the 80s, and it declares that this radiant sound could well be where the music industry is going next.
Young Empress had this to say on the release, “We’ve always had this hankering for the 80s – the films, the music, the fashion. For a long time now we’ve wanted to write a track that felt like some of the soundtracks we heard on the movies we watched when we were kids. Peacemaker is the very beginning of us finding our sound. It’s our little nostalgic love child.”
Enchanting vocals from the get-go that soar with a breath-like tone, Rebecca’s glide though the playful melodies with credibility. It’s like something you’d hear in the Black Mirror episode San Junipero or on the soundtrack of Stranger Things.
Pushing the synths aside for a split moment, the spine-tingling guitar solo that enters just before the three quarters of the way through mark pays tribute to the fashionable attitude of the outfit’s favourite defining era.
Finding their feet firmly in the industry, their sound is unforgettable and has the power to speak to thousands.
Bringing peace within the current darkness, this is Young Empress’ shining light.
