The track is the first taste of her upcoming debut EP absent from it all
As big fans and ardent supporters of her band Sarpa Salpa, we were thrilled to hear that Meg Mash, the artist behind PROJECT MEG, had a new project coming and was going to be making more music, and the result is something that has surpassed even our loftiest of expectations.
The artist’s debut single ‘force quit’ is a gorgeously anthemic and synthy release that is packed full of memorable hooks, catchy melodies and a sobering narrative that feels at odds with its instrumentation and production, making for a really interesting contrast as a result. Previously an active musician as part of a range of bands on the UK indie scene, complications with long COVID unfortunately caused a series of chronic health conditions that made that unsustainable, and this first single provides an insight into the emotional fallout that came with adapting to this and leaving her successful band unpeople. This makes for a track that feels powerful by design for a range of reasons, and a great showcase of an artist channelling her heart into a new sound and project and getting a cathartic release as a result.
