The track is the third release from the artist’s upcoming debut EP The Sunrise Cried, a collection of tracks that showcases the vast potential and appeal of the project. The tracks are tied together thematically by inspiration from the dancer, courtesan, and alleged spy Mata Hari, as portrayed in Paulo Coelho’s novel The Spy (2016), and the mysterious and sultry appeal of the new single mirrors this theme perfectly while boasting an effortlessly captivating modern pop glow throughout.
“The idea came to me from feeling like I was playing it very safe in my own life, while her life was the complete opposite. Diving into the perspective of a character made the creative process not only more fun but also easier in many ways. Everything flowed from a place of curiosity and imagination,” she shares.
