California indie pop duo saturn 17 have established themselves as an act with a really thoughtful and engaging sound since their formation in 2019, with  songwriting duo and good friends Nika Fazeli and Halsey Bousquet’s affable chemistry evident throughout their catalogue of tracks.

The latest release from saturn 17 is ‘not my fault’, which follows their re-emergence earlier in the year with the lauded ‘jazz club’. The track tackles the subject of a forbidden crush, and encapsulates the feelings of hopeful optimism and romanticism that come with the territory, both through the tracks lyrics and the rousing, dreamy soundscape that washes over the sound. When compared to the aforementioned ‘jazz club’, the track feels almost like the antithesis to its predecessor, with uplifting and soaring moments replacing the bitterness and frustration that came before. Each of these tracks continue to expand upon the duos sound and showcase a little more of a range of emotions and style that the duo are adept at conveying, and their fun of form in 2022 bodes really well for the future of the band.
