Ahead of the release of her forthcoming new EP what if it ends? next month, Australian singer-songwriter Sidney has released a final taste in the form of her stunning new single ‘long haul’, a powerful exploration of the expectation and excitement that comes at the start of a new relationship.
The artist’s thoughtful writing and lush vocals make for a really moving and engrossing listening experience, with the mid-tempo indie pop bop growing increasingly atmospheric and moving and mirroring the way that a relationship progresses in the same way. There are moments of struggle and conflicting moments that come along the way, but more so than anything else ‘long haul’ is a track about hope and optimism for the future.
Of her new single, Sidney shares: “I was travelling constantly for work and loving what I was doing, but I couldn’t bring my partner with me. We were fighting a lot. I wanted him to celebrate the wins with me, and I felt guilty for being away, even though I wasn’t going anywhere emotionally. ‘Long Haul’ was my way of reassuring him – and maybe myself – that I was all in.”
