The track is the third single from the exciting emerging artist.
On her third single ‘Sober’, Emerging alt-pop star Siobhán Winifred continues to establish the immersive and emotionally charged nature of her gorgeous writing and her lush sound, building off of the success of her excellent first two singles ‘Black Hole’ and ‘This House’.
The track explores the nuances of “no-strings” relationships and the mental toll that it can take on you, not knowing where you stand and feeling quite lost at times. There is a really engaging tone to the artist’s vocals that feels poignant and real, giving her thoughtful storytelling an even sharper, more affecting edge. ‘Sober’ is a track that effortlessly manages to feel both catchy and memorable while packing considerable emotional weight, and Siobhán’s deftness and talent as an emerging artist has never felt more defined and exciting than on this new release.
Speaking about “Sober”, Siobhán gives this insight, “I wrote Sober about the conflicting emotions you experience when your relationship with someone is based on no attachment and no expectations. It’s about the constant push and pull, where every word and action can have a double meaning. Lyrically the song is about how, when you’re feeling lost, you attach your worth to their interest in you and do whatever you can to not lose it. Sometimes despite all the warning signs that are there, it’s hard to resist the sense of self-protection and direction that comes from placing your sense of self in someone else’s interest in you: you know you need to let go but just don’t have the strength to. Ultimately, I like to think Sober is a very relatable song that captures the emotional conflict we experience when we find ourselves in a relationship with a inevitable expiration date.”
