The track is part of the band’s lauded new debut LP of the same name
Packing a hard-edged and intense indie rock sound that feels as character-filled as it is dynamic and impactful, all-femme indie rock band Sluttony have been carving out a name for themselves since their formation back in 2021 with the fierce and uncompromising nature of their sound and writing.
Their latest single ‘Hazel’ is a track that continues to hammer home that appeal, written about the titular character who serves as something of a narrative centrepiece on their new album of the same name. The track has a really grungy and atmospheric feel to it throughout as it explores themes like the contradictory expectations placed on women through Hazel, and as the intensity ramps up and the slow-burning darkness creeps in it makes for a really memorable listening experience.
“Hazel is the personification of the push and pull we all feel as we come into ourselves,” says the band. “She represents power, regret, beauty, pressure—and how we internalize or reject all of that.”
