Liverpool quintet SPINN team up with Christie Simpson on excellent new release ‘Billie’

The track is from an upcoming EP, to be released in May.

SPINN are an outfit who have been rapidly establishing themselves as one of the UKs premiere emerging indie pop acts, and when paired with the ever-ethereal vocals of Christie Simpson (Yumi Zouma), have had the chance to provide something truly lasting and memorable on ‘Billie’.

Thankfully, the track has proven to be all of that and then some, their first release of 2021 proving that the outfit have as much guile and edge as ever, accented wonderfully by the contrast of Christie’s lighter tones. Complete with the outfits familiarly jangly, melodic sensibilities, glistening guitars and frontman Johnny Quinn’s commanding presence and thoughtful lyrics, the track makes for an instant highlight in SPINN’s back catalgoue.

“With social media there is a lot of pressure on us and our relationships to be ideal; but obviously neither of these things are perfect – that’s what Billie is about.” Johnny Says of the track. “It’s somebody who is reflecting on a relationship that’s ended and realising that it wasn’t perfect and nor are they. They’re coming to an understanding that no matter how hard we try, our lives don’t always work out the way we plan. There’s a good life lesson in there, somewhere.”
