Over the last few years, Newcastle alternative rock outfit Ten Eighty Trees have really come into their own as a band, boasting a sound that feels tight and polished while packing a rawness and sense of unpredictability that feels exciting and fresh, buoyed by the energetic instrumentation and vocals.

The latest release from the band is ‘Brand New Skin’, a track that feels daring and adventurous while having this hard-hitting, catchy appeal that feels infectious. Stadium-sided hooks and an anthemic chorus meet an impressive, riffy sound. While the narrative explores themes like burnout and fatigue, the sound itself couldn’t feel more packed full of life, and it is so easy to picture the track dominating the space in a crowded live setting. Things seem quite miserable right now, and the track acknowledges this while providing a beacon of inspiration and hope that feels as rousing as it does memorable.

As lead songwriter Nathan Newton explains: “The idea of wanting to leave emotional baggage in the past is quite a relatable one for many people i feel, but also one viewed as quite a turbulent and unpleasant experience. This turbulence is definitely apparent in the music and lyrics, but I also think there’s a defiance in what’s being said and a sense of hope that things can change for the better if you can make it through a period of adjustment.”
