Contrasting the brash intensity of their recent single ‘Disconnections’, West Midlands indie rock outfit The Assist showcase the other side of their versatile sound on the their release ‘The Luckiest Man’, taking a look at some of the things that they have to be grateful for and trying not to get bogged down in the fear and negativity that we can often feel consumed by.

There is a really laid-back and thoughtful feel to the track throughout, feeling like it aims to allay some of the anxieties and fears that are explored through the lyrics. These themes of being a person who is in their mid-twenties and feeling a bit lost and unsure are something that seem to be popping up a lot in the band’s work recently, and it makes for some really engrossing and resonating moments for the band’s listeners who will have grown up together with the band over the last decade and will be facing similar challenges and pitfalls as we try to navigate our way through the world, and ‘The Luckiest Man’ sees the band open up a fresh avenue of their sound as they look to find a more positive perspective.
