The track marks the start of The Honest Heart Collective’s 2021 rollout
Their earnest and candid brand of songwriting and engaging, energetic sound have earned The Honest Heart Collective a firm place in the hearts and minds of listeners in recent years. Boasting a rousing sound that probably sits somewhere between The Gaslight Anthem and later Deaf Havana, the outfit wear their stories and their life experiences on their sleeves and it makes for a particularly unique and intimate listening experience.
Latest release ’11/17′ is the perfect example of this. A few years ago, The Honest Heart Collective lost control of their touring van and trailer on black ice, and rolled into a ditch. 11/17 is the highway that witnessed that accident, and the road that runs through their northern Ontario hometown. This is the same autobiographical charm that the outfit have always had except the stakes are turned up to a literal heart-stopping, life changing level. The track is a real journey with the band as they beg the question, “Are we ever gonna get it right?”. The track and the consistently solid work that the outfit continue to release should be enough evidence for you to base your answer to that question on.
