The track is the first taste of their upcoming sophomore album Heavy
Ushering a darker, more bold era of their sound in dynamic fashion, The Howlers are back with their new single ‘Viper’, a swaggering new indie rock single that disregards red flags and dives headfirst into bad decisions.
The endlessly cool nature of the track does a great job of re-affirming this message, with the band’s confident sound and sense of scope following them into the depths on the new release, with the riffs and hard-hitting rhythms to back it up. The band have had a re-shuffle and a renewed sense of focus since the end of 2024, and this track provides a razor sharp example of the anthemic sounds that they are capable of producing while packing that little bit more of a murky and gritty edge.
“Viper speaks to an experience of being totally drawn towards someone even though you can see the red flags — the desire for all of us to willingly make bad decisions for the thrill of what comes next, regardless of consequences.” says frontman Adam Young “You’re lost in the moment together. But no matter how much you kid yourself into believing the Bonnie & Clyde fantasy, they will always cause you pain in the end.”
