With their debut album Don’t Be a Stranger just around the corner, set for release on November 1st, UK indie rock trio The Rills have unveiled the final insight into it in the form of their latest single ‘Mistake’, a thoughtful and introspective track that explores themes like finding your place in the world, regardless of where others thing you should be or should be doing.

This makes for a really relatable and engrossing listening experience throughout, amplified by the nuanced and more soft-edged approach to their sound that compliments the track and its sentiments perfectly. The Rills do a great job of expressing how to showcase your vulnerable side effectively, both sonically and lyrically throughout ‘Mistake’, and this makes for a listening experience that rings with an authenticity and charm, as they seem to be taking their own advice through this more gentle and refreshingly natural approach.

‘Mistake’ is all about finding your place, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone & making errors. “People will unknowingly push you towards somewhere you’re not meant to be, that’s a mistake.”, they state, “If you succumb to that, that’s a whole other mistake in itself.”

Vocalist Mitch further states, “For me, that meant learning to love my femininity as a man conditioned into machoism. Even the song is battling with itself. It’s our typical ‘indie band’ sound fighting against these weird electronic arpeggios. I like to think the imaginary ‘F1 driver’ of our album has realised that, in the end, his greatest rival was himself.”
