The track is the third release of the year from the unique outfit.
Emerging melodic indie rock outfit The Tropicanas are an ironically named band from Livingston, with their serene aesthetic and chilled out rhythms presumably a world away from their day to day pace of life and climate south of the border, but their slick, engaging sound evokes thoughts of the sea, sand and sun all the same.
The latest release from the outfit is their new single ‘Pop Snuff It’, a track washed in dreamy, reverb laden guitars and synths, perpetuating these ideas of brisk serenity and no cares in the world. Lyrically though, the track deals with the concept of a relationship that has fallen apart, providing a melancholy contrast to the care-free nature of the instrumental. Juxtaposition and idiosyncracy seems to be something that characterises The Tropicanas, and leaves you with a perplexing feeling of not really being sure where you stand with their laid-back, groove-laden sounds. Whether you want to lose yourself in the feel-good nature of the sunny sounds, or find a relatable tale of doomed love within the lyrics, there is a lot to love here, and the conflicting nature of its components makes the track and the outfit feel truly distinguished and unique.
