Vance Eris is an artist who has had a firm hold on our attention since his emergence at the start of the year, with his steady stream of intoxicating, charismatic alt-pop tunes. This has led to now, with the tracks forming his debut album WHATABUM, a cementing the artist’s status of someone who is here to stay.

The fifth and sixth tracks on the album are ‘THE FEELS’ and ‘SAED’, with the former being a frenetic, rock-edged thrill ride that clocks in at just over 1 minute 20 seconds. The track captures the exciting energy and charm of the emerging artist while providing a sharp-edged change from the album’s more introspective and pop-orientated bulk.

This is followed by ‘SAED’, a synth-laced alt-pop banger that shows off the incessant appeal of Vance and his sound. The track has moments where it feels infectious and full of life, moments where it slows down, and throughout, showcases the artist’s effortlessly engaging voice and all of the personality that fills every word. WHATABUM is a defining moment in Vance Eris’ young career, and we could well be looking at it as a catalyst for something that becomes much bigger and landscape shifting.
