Michael Di Spirito and Danielle Davie are Viridian, a Vancouver indie alternative duo who late last year released their debut album How to Survive in the Woods. The album was seven years in the making, and showcased the nuanced and atmospheric sound that the pair, possess and its effortlessly transfixing qualities.

The second track from the album is ‘The Embrace’, a brooding and dark single that highlights this intense, atmospheric flair that Viridian boast. There is a real darkness and and ominous aura to this sound, one that is amplified by its brand new music video, and the artistic rawness it showcases, almost feeling akin to a found footage horror film at times with its weird shots and isolating sense of loneliness at times. There is so much to unpack and interpret here, both from the track and the video, and the release really showcases Viridian as an exciting project that will leave a lasting impression on you for well beyond your listen. The moody soundscapes and haunting beauty of their sound making for a listening experience that feels peerless and captivating.
