Boasting a really unique and dreamy psychedelic sound, but with endearing pop sensibilities, UK outfit Volleyball have earned themselves an ardent following over the last few years.
There latest release is the swirling ‘Hours’, an engaging track that moves like a warm, transcendent journey right up until its abrupt end. Everything from its chiming guitars to the soft and captivating nature of the vocals helps to create this otherworldly feeling, while still packing a bit of a dynamic edge, not dissimilar to the retro-tinged indie rock of artists such as Elephant Castle at times. There is more than enough unique charm and personality here to make Volleyball’s sound feel distinctly their own though, and ‘Hours’ does a great job of showing the depth and range of their sound, provides a great first glimpse of upcoming new EP Kitua Fortune.
