The last few years have seen Worthitpurchase expanding upon and experimenting with their eclectic indie-folk style in rousing fashion, committing to an ethos that incorporates things like performances that feature revolving members and re-inventing songs with new forms and interpretations, flipping whatever expectations you have of modern artists on their head to create something worthwhile and distinctive.

The latest new single from the trio is ‘Heaven on Earth’, a track that melds a dreamy, ethereal soundscape with thoughtful dual vocals to craft a sound that feels both familiar and soft while packing an engrossing modern edge. Gritty drum machines and creatively utilised synthesisers add a bit of bite to the release and ensure that it never really delves into safe or comfortable listening territory. The track is set to be part of the outfit’s upcoming third album which is expected to be released later in the year, and does a great job of setting you up for whatever off-kilter and charmingly creative things they have in store on their new project.

“I started writing this song in the first apartment I ever lived at, this super dark and cave-like garden level apartment in San Francisco,” Nicole says. “It always looked like the sun had just set, and however hot it was outside, the place was consistently 55ºF. The ceilings were something like 12 feet high and my room was basically an echo chamber. There’s some escapism in the lyrics stemming from spending that cold summer there. I sent a voice memo to Omar asking him to write a verse, and he sent back this insane B section with altered choruses that misinterpreted the original lyrics. The chorus is an amalgamation of both the original and Omar’s version of mine.”
