The poignant new release continues to showcase the artist’s moving and relatable charm
On her heartfelt new release ‘Friend Like That’, Brighton-based singer-songwriter Zoe Konez explores relatable and sombre feelings like falling away from your friends and the loneliness that can come with such territory, continuing to establish herself as one of the most resonating artist’s in the UK right now.
The way that the artist articulates these universal thoughts and feelings is something that makes her really stand out and leave a lasting impression on you as an artist, and these bittersweet feelings explored on the track are sure to conjure up memories of your own as you reflect on the people and relationships that somehow got lost to time along the way. The delicate nature of the instrumentation feels as compelling as raw as ever on the release, and the emotional gut-punch of the lyrics will hit hard for anybody who has found themselves finding themselves a little bit more alone than they’d hoped as an adult.
“When I wrote ‘Friend Like That’, I was thinking about how difficult it can be to make new friends as an adult,” Zoe explains. “The song is a mix of nostalgia and loss, but it’s also about cherishing the memories we create with those few special people in our lives, even if they’re no longer part of our day-to-day.”
