Not to be over the top or anything but latest Zuzu release ‘My Old Life’ feels so cathartic and raw and candid that at times you might feel like you’re actually going through a break up yourself. The track is stacked with such honest and heartfelt emotion from the artist and carries such a stirring sense of poignancy.

The track develops into a real journey that drives from heartbroken sadness into a real rousing tale of picking yourself back up making the best out of a bad situation. It is a progression and a growth that feels seamless and natural and makes for quite an awe-inspiring and inspirational experience. Zuzu expresses the feelings and emotions that come with letting go in such a real and human way that it almost brings the situation to life right in front of you. This is a really nice indie pop track from an artist who has a real masterful grasp on her songwriting.

“This last 18 months have brought about some of the biggest changes in my life.” Zuzu says of the track. “I’ve had to learn how to set boundaries. Learn how to walk away from people and how to let people walk away from me. This song is about a particular period I had to dig really deep to find enough self-worth to move on from an emotionally exhausting situation that – at the time – felt like the end of the world. It’s about pushing through those dark times and coming out stronger and wiser. Writing ‘My Old Life’ really helped me to shake off all of the toxic energy I was holding onto and truly let go.”
