Never one to rest on her laurels or play things save, Scottish artist and producer SHEARS has continued to expand upon and push the boundaries of her distinctive sound on her latest single ‘ARCADE MACHINE’, venturing into energetic hyperpop territory on the infectious new release.

The new single sees the artist delving into the theme of sexism, both within her experiences in the music industry and of her life in general, pertaining to the way that people have tried to control her and influence her decision making. There is an effortlessly appealing and dynamic feel to the sound, packed full of sonic quirks and catchy moments, further signalling her ability to shapeshift and make bold choices about her sound without the input of others.

SHEARS says of ‘ARCADE MACHINE’ “This song is about control. Someone was giving me unsolicited advice on who could help ‘boost me’ in the music industry without knowing that having someone else control my music and actions was my worst nightmare. I could only imagine being controlled like an arcade machine.”
