Kxurtnxy reveals her moody sound with the full-throttle new single ‘FUNHXUSE’. As far as debut singles go, this one is particularly striking!
Drawing influence from Tik Tok subcultures such as sadboi and e-girl as well as channelling a Billie Eilish-esque alternative to the mainstream, ‘FXNHXUSE’ is a confident and fully formed vision by the young Oxford-based artist. Throbbing with moody synths and propelled by restless beats, the track sees Kxurtnxy flex her dextrous vocals as she shifts effortlessly between rapping and smooth singing. Topped with Ariana Grande-reminiscent hooks, and it’s only a matter of time before Kxurtnxy begins to gather notoriety.
“I’m drawn to dark and moody music and I wanted create a song in my own style about how the lockdown must have affected people’s minds and mental health,” she explains of the track. “‘FUNHXUSE’ is about the rollercoaster of emotions which I felt being locked up inside for so long during that time”.
