The hyper-realistic track is part of NUUXS new album Heirloom, a collection of personal stories from the artist’s life.
Candid and almost hauntingly real and graphic. ‘Part of Me’ is an autobiographical new release from NUUXS from her just released new album Heirloom.
The track sees the artist account the time that she spent in her youth, dealing with an abusive step-father and living in a cult. The sound melds her soft and textured vocals with more abrupt rapped, almost spoken sections. This is a sense of realism that permeates the track and its sound that feels all too real, and provides you with just the tiniest fraction of what the artist has had to overcome to create these sounds.
The end result is a piece of art that melds this pain and these harrowing memories with the beauty that her sound allows her to express now, every angry encounter in the track is met with one of tranquility and peace. NUUXS has found the perfect cocktail of intensely personal and effortless engaging and memorable, telling her story and feeling like one of the most exciting and significant artists in the UK in 2021.
NUUXS says about the track: “It is a part of my journey and I felt it important to rid myself of the anger I have carried over what happened in the past. It’s scary in parts lyrically and sonically. However the honesty and the trauma is relatable and abuse shouldn’t be swept under the rug.”
