MARBLE reveals hypnotising new single ‘Red Room’
Years of emotional deep dives, spiritual deconstruction and reconstruction, and bold illuminations of the shadows past and within has enabled MARBLE to draw from a deepening well of expression.
MARBLE is, in one word, a mood; you don’t need to know the lyrics to know how you feel; enraptured in the pain, strength, and fragility of Bailey’s voice, unfolding under layers of melancholy melodies, captivated in the story as Blount’s iconic ambient guitar lines live fiercely in the noise and die delicately in the quiet.
MARBLE is equal parts haunting and cathartic, and will leave you feeling deeply introspective.
When I first encountered this song, I fell head over heels, and I’m certain you will too.
Speaking about the new release, Marble share, “We used to have this tiny, underground basement studio in Seattle at this place called Crybaby Studios.
It was underground and there were about 50 small rooms that were always half full of musicians playing at their loudest possible volumes.
It was also directly underneath this dance club so on Friday and Saturday nights you could hear the yells and the floor creaking from the weight of the people dancing. You would walk through the halls by trash cans filled with empty beer cans and burnt cigarettes on the way to our space.
Inside the room, it was covered in graffiti from over the years, and the walls were made of these big cinder blocks so we put carpets over every surface we could. It was odd because you would be completely alone and writing about something as devastating as this song but you were surrounded by strangers having such a different experience than you. This space is where “red room” came to be.
I labored over it for well over a year in that lonely, smelly, moist, and yet creatively freeing room. I hope that you enjoy the end result of that effort!”
