The track is the artist’s third release of 2022.
With an energetic, charismatic sound in the mould of the likes of artists like Frank Turner and Brian Fallon, Tim Ostrowsky-Thomas and his project Morning Crush has established him as a prolific presence in the UK music scene thanks to his work ethic when it comes to touring and releasing music.
The latest of his singles is ‘Manhattan’, an engaging farewell to a failed relationship, and an optimistic look forward to what is next and how the artist is going to move on. The artist’s affable, personable writing and personality shines through on the track, and his thoughtful lyrics and earnest honesty make for a conversational track that feels almost akin to a chat with a close friend. From his rousing melodies to his winning charm, to the fullness of the full-band sound that accompanies him on the track, ‘Manhattan’ is a winner of a track that bleeds with a sense of authenticity, and a quiet sense of catharsis and hopefulness.
Speaking about the song, Morning Crush says:
“On the surface I guess the lyrics are about one of those relationships that just didn’t end. Just before I wrote the song we were still in limbo, it took us about 2 years to finally part ways permanently and in this track I’m essentially saying “I’m done, all the best”. However on the whole, I’d say it’s a song about it’s accepting defeat and saying goodbye to what you one thought was so important, and being OK with that. Because that’s life.”
