Since capturing our attention with the stunning Time EP last year, we’ve been patiently waiting to hear more from the emerging UK artist and she has now, duly obliged with the stirring new single ‘My Potential’.
The artist’s sound has always had a flair for the introspective and thoughtful, and this track continues to see the artist analyse herself and explore her mind. This is set to a genuinely gorgeous backdrop of uplifting, intricate sounds that feel both exploratory and reassuringly gentle. There is a real sense of fluidity and spaciousness to Samfire and her sound, with the gradually building nature of its layering and the immersive allure of her vocals making for a sound that you simply can’t help but get sucked into.
Talking about the new single, Samfire shares: “This song is the window to my frame of mind – driven, self-critical, hopeful and romantic. It poured out of me one morning in the shower, a context which has shaped its sweet melodic and lyrical simplicity. I know there are a lot of people that, like me, are always trying to better themselves. This song is for them – offering the words that have got me through moments of self doubt: ‘I believe in my potential’”
