I’m just a musical weirdo. I can watch the music and listen to the paintings. Touch the sounds and feel them physically.
More officially Janeuary is an alternative composer and singer from Ukraine. Her music is deep and philosophical. She is very sincere with her listeners: every note comes from the depth of her heart and soul.
How long have you been making music?
Since I remember myself, I’ve always been making up some melodies and singing like Donkey from Shrek.
Why do you make music?
Because I’m not able not to.
What are your biggest influences?
My musical family, vinyl records from childhood, my talented musicians, my cat.
What would you say has been your best moment so far?
The moment I got to play a grand piano at the highest placed hotel in the world: Everest View.
I played my “Everest” there. And cried.
How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?
As a bleeding heart served for you on a golden plate
What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?
I guess, a concert in London would be great, one day.
We love your new single ‘Awakening’, what more can you tell us about it?
I can tell you, I made up an additional part for strings just two days before release, and now I suffer and can’t sleep at night, ’cause I never had a chance to add it to the composition anymore…
What else do you have planned for the near future?
I plan an album a year! Or two. Or more.
And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?
My dog, Charlie.
