With the release of his thoughtful new single ‘Astronaut’, Leon Blanchard is fantasising about getting away from the world for a while, and given the state of how things have been recently and seem to be going, it feels hard to blame him.

The track itself has some really rousing and thoughtful moments, with the Grimsby artist’s sharp songwriting and resonating writing coming to the fore as he delves into his feelings in his typically engrossing Northern fashion. The soft rock soundscape here does a great job of letting his natural talent shine, and what the artist truly excels as it crafting these bruised, often vulnerable narratives that are grounded in reality and a sense of rawness that feels unmistakably lived in and real, and this track continues to hone in on this approach, feeling unmistakably personable and easy to resonate with in the process.

Leon says “It’s a song about wanting to escape, floating into space and looking back down on the world you’re living in. It took a while to figure out that song, so I’m pleased it’s finally out there”.
