With the release of her engrossing and relatable new single ‘CLINGY’, Canadian indie pop icon Lights explores the uncomfortable feeling when you notice yourself growing clingy with somebody that you’re romantically attached to, especially when its not a way that you would usually act and it takes you by surprise.

The fun and catchy nature of the soundscape does a great job of matching the light-hearted nature of the narrative, while some of the punchier aspects of the instrumentation keep things feeling dynamic and exciting. Underneath all of the fun though, there are undercurrents of feelings like insecurity amidst the shifting nature of relationships and things like ownership and confidence, and they shine through at times to make for some really thoughtful moments from beneath the mask of the intoxicatingly bassy sound.

“You could be the most confident person when that feeling creeps up out of nowhere,” says Lights. “It’s a tongue in cheek anthem for the clingy people out there who aren’t usually clingy.”
